According to Fi's news, Rennes still has not given up the deal to add Giroud to Chelsea to buy Mendy.
Mendy has accepted Chelsea's medical examination on Tuesday local time, and the Blues have negotiated a transfer fee of 22 million pounds, including additional bonus terms.
The report claimed that Rennes still hoped that Chelsea would join Giroud in the transaction at the last moment, but was rejected. The Blues wanted to get cash directly from the French international.
Earlier news said that Rennes wanted Chelsea to join two players, one of whom may be Tomori.
Mendy will become the seventh new player introduced by Chelsea this summer, and he will compete with Kepa for the main position.
